It's for real- EA released Dead Space Necromorph Infector Application for Facebook! Simply install the official software, select your friend's photo and let the infector to turn it into a really dreadful necromorph! (Wish list: an application that lets you to dismember your friends on Facebook! :P)
Dead Space producer Chuck Beaver posted a very energetic (as always) post-release confession on his work blog. He reveals the emotional side of Dead Space development- how they were fighting for their ideas, later working 100-hour weeks and finally waiting for first reviews on Metacritic and refreshing it over and over again. Chuck goes so far that he even compares the good game scores to 'first time sex'. In fact, not many his sentences avoided sensual words like 'passion', 'sex' and such. Well, that's fair enough for such a passionate dev team!
IGN team tested thoroughly Dead Space Downloadable goodies and put together a superb video with their impressions. If you were thinking to buy or not Dead Space upgrade packs, you definitely should check this one out- at least you will have a blast time watching this top notch video. The long awaited and much requested Dead Space Demo will available for download from XBL and PSN on 25th Nov (from European PSN on 27th Nov). Please note that the demo will be focusing on Dead Space combat system- Strategic Dismembering, which is really cool but it's only a part of the whole experience. So follow Ben's advice 'Before You Carve a Turkey, Practice on a Necromorph!' and download Dead Space Demo ASAP!
Speaking with Variety, EA Redwood Shores studio general manager Glenn Schofield confirmed that the Dead Space sequel is already in the works (there's still a very microscopic chance that the game could be cancelled). Glenn also talks about Dead Space novels, toys... and the film (no less than triple A, of course). Needless to say, we are very much looking forward for all this goodness!
Reload your weapons, survivors! We have a very good excuse to smash through
those nasty necromorphs once again. The new cool dismembering gear is
coming to PSN and XBL on 13th Nov in Europe and worldwide on 20th Nov.
Get off our ship, necromorphs- here comes Isaac with his all new Military Weapons!

Gamespot.com team definitely loves Dead Space- especially on Halloween! Check out their creative (and, actually, quite funny) Dead Space Parody. (I have a suspicion that it was done in collaboration with Dead Space team- otherwise how they would get the real helmet?)

Finally after all the heavy battles against German rating authorities, EA announced that Dead Space will be released in Germany on 6th Nov 2008. The game was banned twice there before SKU gave it a green light after the third review. Yeah! Necromorphs will have no chances after Germans join our surviving ranks!
Tomorrow European Isaac will start kicking arses of necromorphs badly, very badly- in order to catch up with their American comrades that started a week earlier. Luckily some of us received our copies a day earlier (if you pre-ordered from a proper retailer). Unluckily, Germans will have to wait a bit longer- it seems that country's defence systems will hold the alien forces 2 more weeks. Though, it's better later than never, isn't it? :)
No doubt that a good score is extremely important for creating an immerse atmosphere. Dead Space is no exception. And, luckily, the composer Jason Graves was able to work together with developers almost from the very beginning. So if you're eager to learn how such engaging, eerie and unnerving score was created, then you definitely have to read this IGN interview with Jason Graves!

Players, who buy Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 versions of Dead Space within 2 weeks from the release date, will be able to download a platform exclusive suit for FREE. Xbox themed Elite suit will be available on Xbox Live and Playstation 3 themed Obsidian suit- on Playstation Network (PSN). Both of these suits will have unique designs, increased toughness and inventory slots. Those who pre-order Dead Space from Game.co.uk, will receive an additional code for Scorpion Suit.

GamesRadar published a very interesting interview with Dead Space Lead Art Director Ian Milham and Lead Creature Designer Ben Wanat. Ian is responsible for the environment design and overall look & feel of the game. Ben is the one to blame for necromorphs on USG Ishimura :) Among other interesting things, designers reveal sources of their inspiration. For example, they used extensively the construction rules of European gothic architecture for oil rigs, aircraft carriers, industrial mining operations and such. Please note how paradoxically it sounds- gothic architecture helping to create a believable space ship! But that's just a tiny detail from the interview. If you want to learn more about monsters, dismembering, infectors and what dentist lighting has to do with all of this, then read the full article. Though, be warned: it contains light spoilers!
EA Redwood Shores announced Dead Space Ultra Limited Editions- only 1000 copies will be published! Though they will be available from EA Store only, you could try your luck with aptitude test and win a copy of Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition.
The latest report from Dead Space creators: the game development is going really well. In fact so well, that it will be published sooner than planned (that's official, not just a mere rumour!). Interviews, Community day, Leipzig Games Show and their most favourite PAX (this fact confirms that Dead Space guys are still gamers!)- all this whirlpool sounds not only exciting, but hell tiring as well. However, in this their latest post they managed to find time and explain reasons why Dead Space release date was moved up.
Dead Space team just published preparation impressions of EA Redwood Shores Producer Chuck Beaver. It turns out that Chuck is a really cool guy with a great sense of humour. I would recommend checking out the article- it's very emotional, funny and it reveals some interesting facts. For instance, did you know that the game's famous UI was done by... Dead Space producer himself?
